The secret of tan through swimsuits is that they are made from a special material called Microsol or MicrosolV that allows some of the sunrays that produce a tan through to your skin and it can do so without showing off what’s under your swimsuit when you don’t want this to happen. This is achieved by the tiny holes or micropores in the material. Not that the material lets all the sunshine through even though you’ll get enough rays to create a tan (and, incidentally, allow your body to synthesize the maximum amount of Vitamin D), you’ll still get a measure of UV protection equivalent to a SPF6 sunscreen. And, unlike real sunscreen, you won’t need to reapply a tan through swimsuit every two or three hours if you’re spending the whole day at the beach or beside the pool.
Tan through swimsuits have one real bonus that is enjoyed by those who want an even all-over tan without resorting to messy streak-prone lotions and also want to swim as a form of exercise or as a sport. The micropores that do the job of letting a bit of sunshine through to your skin also let water through easily, meaning that you can slip through the water more easily, as the resistance of regular material is eliminated.
